Mobius Arch is in the Alabama Hills, just east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and to the west of Death Valley. We went to Mobius Arch very late in the evening two nights in a row to get this image. We arrived about midnight and waited for the moon to rise just above the horizon to light the arch just a bit. We were met each night by other photographers trying to capture this wonderful formation. They were working on star trail images of the arch. A little cooperation and we all got the images we were hoping for.
Through the arch, you can see Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the continental United States. For a great read about this area, check out Danial Arnold book about his journey from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, Salt to Summit.
